Georgia Safe Haven Law & Experts Provider Training On-Demand Webinar Recording

The Hope Box is Georgia’s Safe Haven Law experts and training facilitators. The Hope Box travels extensively throughout the state of Georgia training safe haven location providers. This training will ensure that you and your staff are proficiently informed of the law and be better equipped should a mother invoke the Safe Haven Law and relinquish her infant at your site. Attendees will have a clear understanding of appropriate procedures and protocols in which to follow in case of a relinquishment. The training explains the serious circumstances surrounding the issue of abandonment, with the goal of changing perspectives of mothers who are considering this option.

Target Audience:

Primary Care Providers, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Public Health Providers, First Responders, Healthcare Professional Students & Community Health Related Organization Representatives

Objectives:

At the end of presentation, the participant will be able to

1.  Ensure knowledge of Georgia Safe Haven Law and be better equipped should a mother invoke the law and relinquish her infant at your site.

2. Detail appropriate procedures and protocols in which to follow in case of a relinquishment.

3. Explain serious circumstances surrounding the issue of abandonment, with the goal of changing perspectives of mothers who are considering this option.

Continuing Education:

Nurses: The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) as an approved provider for nursing continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 1.0 contact hour towards the continuing education competency requirement for Georgia nursing licensure renewal. No partial credit offered. Activity #2021-08A.

Submission of registration information, attendance and completed evaluation/successful post-test required for Nursing continuing education certificates.
